Morris dancers are making their way to Chipperfield.

As part of their annual dance tour, Greensleeves Morris Men of Wimbledon will be performing in the village this weekend.

The group will make four appearances to celebrate their 90th anniversary.

David Legg, leader of Greensleeves Morris Men, said: “It’s our 90th anniversary this year and for the past 55 years we have been doing our annual Chipperfield weekend in July.

“The audiences are enthusiastic and we enjoy dancing here. It’s a traditional part of our July dancing programme.”

They will begin with a show in Chipperfield Common tonight at 9.00pm, before a performance at the Windmill pub tomorrow at 5.45pm.

Greensleeves will be joined by morris musicians to dance in a procession to an open air church service on Sunday at 10.20am.

The service will be followed by another procession that leads to the Windmill pub, where the group will do their final performance at 12.15pm.

Founded in 1926, Greensleeves is London’s longest established Morris dancing club.
