Watford has been recognised for its evening and night-time entertainment by retaining its ‘Purple Flag’ status.
The honour, which is similar to Blue Flags handed out to celebrated beaches, is awarded to areas which provide a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture.
Judges also take into account the safety and wellbeing of those enjoying themselves between 5pm and 5am.
Watford has held a Purple Flag since 2012 and Maria Manion, chief executive of Watford BID, said it was fantastic to be championed by independent adjudicators.
She said: “We are delighted Watford has maintained its Purple Flag award. We work closely with all our colleagues across the town centre, including local businesses, Pubwatch, the Police and the Council, to ensure those who visit the town have both an enjoyable and safe time.
“It’s great to see the Purple Flag assessors recognised the hard work and dedication of all our partners.”
