A NEW senior rabbi has been appointed at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue (NPLS).

Rabbi Aaron Goldstein will take over the role on September 1 - replacing his father Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein on his retirement.

It is the first time in the history of the UK Liberal Movement that a son has succeeded his father in such a position.

Rabbi Aaron Goldstein said: "It is a great honour to have been appointed to succeed my father. He has always been an inspiration to me."

His father said: "What greater gift can there be to have a son follow in the same profession as his father? But for a Rabbi to have his son succeed him as Senior Rabbi in his congregation is a dream come true."

Rabbi Aaron, who is married to Tammy and has two daughters, was ordained in 2002.
