Nearly £7m of developer’s money has been spent on community projects and schools in Watford since 2012.
Following a Freedom of Information request, figures have revealed exactly how much and where Section 106 money has been spent across Hertfordshire.
It is Section 106 money that has been given to Hertfordshire County Council.
Most of the money has been spent on the creation and expansion of schools.
In our area, most notably, these include Bushey Meads, Watford Grammar School for Boys, Central Primary School, Abbots Langley Primary School, Rickmansworth School, St Clement Danes, Tanners Wood, Yorke Meade, Cherry Tree Primary School, Lanchester Community School, and Beechfield School.
Other notable projects which have received funding from section 106 money include £1.5 towards the Met Line extension, £45,000 for footway widening and a new bus stop lay-by in Watford high street, and £36,000 for pedestrian improvements in Rickmansworth high street.
Traffic calming in Old Mill Road in Hunton Bridge which took place in 2014/15 received £104,000 of s106 monies while around £150,000 of s106 monies was allocated for towpath enhancements in Abbots Langley.
Traffic calming measures in Old North Western Avenue received nearly £60,000 while accident remedial measures on the same stretch of road cost £32,000 in s106 monies.
Thousands of pounds of s106 monies has also been used at Watford Central Library.
Across Hertfordshire, £57m of s106 money has been spent since 2012/13 with more than 2,800 separate payments made on a host of different projects.
The FOI was submitted by the chairman of Elstree & Borehamwood Residents’ Association chairman, Andy Lewis.
Section 106 money is money from developers which is geared towards contributing to social or community infrastructure which has arisen as a result of development.
