A widow has set herself a challenge to walk 90km in Kenya in memory of her husband.
Mervyn Doidge died in August last year after a battle with a rare condition, central nervous system lymphoma, while in the care of Watford-based Peace Hospice Care.
He only married his fiancée, Tracey Davies, that summer.
In March, Tracey and family and friends took part in a ten mile walk at London Bridge, but next year she wants to go many steps further to help support the hospice.
She said: “Merv was a genuine, easy-going, but hard-working man and we had a bright future together. We’d been together for eight years and his friends and family said they had never seen him so happy."
“When Merv was at the hospice, there was always a shoulder to cry on if needed and the charity is an amazing place not just for patients but the community.
“There are so many ways to support Peace Hospice Care and I am forever indebted to them.”
She will be holding a raffle to kick off the fundraising on June 23 at Harrow Weald Memorial Hall.
Tickets cost £10.
The Kenya trek will take place between February 24 and March 5 next year.
