A fire which erupted next to a busy motorway has destroyed an area of farmland leaving behind a field of blackened earth.
The blaze went up on July 13 in a field near to Catlips Farm Livery Stables off Shepherds Lane in Chorleywood right next to the M25.
Hertfordshire County Council were contacted at 5.30pm that evening with news of the field fire listing the incident as “tree, scrub or hedgerow fire”.
A crew from Rickmansworth fire station attended the scene. The council listed the fire as “accidental”.
The source of the fire is still unknown.
