A road described as the “worst in the area” could soon be given a new lease of life.
Parkside Drive in Watford was criticized by ward councillor Peter Kloss for its “shocking” surface and potholes and he began a petition to get it repaired.
In light of the petition, Hertfordshire County Council has reportedly agreed that the road must now be considered a “top priority” for repair after meeting with Cllr Kloss and county councillor Mark Watkin.
A survey will need to be carried out to find out what has caused the road to fall into disrepair. It is believed it may stem from damaged sewers underneath the road but the Lib Dems will await results of the survey, which should be by mid-October.
Any repairs to Parkside Drive are likely to take place from next April; when the next financial year begins.
Cllr Kloss said: “I’m pleased that thanks to our petition the poor condition of Parkside Drive is now receiving the attention it deserves from Hertfordshire County Council. I look forward to the results of the survey and a firm plan for repair of the road.”
