A new operator has been found to take pupils to a school after the previous company pulled out because of ‘bad behaviour’.

A number of students were left without travel to Bushey Academy from South Oxhey and North Watford after Mullany’s Coaches scrapped two of its services, believed to be because of poor student behaviour and damage to its vehicles.

There were 85 students who used the services last year, of which 42 are “entitled” to free travel. It meant that Hertfordshire County Council had a duty to find travel for those 42 students.

The county council has confirmed that Lucketts of Watford will provide free home-to-school and back transport. It has launched an E932 service from North Watford and an E933 service from South Oxhey.

The buses will initially run from September to December to enable time for a “longer term solution” to be arranged.

There have been no arrangements, as of yet, for students who are not entitled to free school travel.
