Major redevelopment proposals could include a new multi-storey car park for Watford General Hospital.
Community members heard about emerging plans for Watford Riverwell at the marketing suite on Thomas Sawyer Way on September 4 and 5, which could include a new hospital car park and commercial area.
The development is part of a joint enterprise between Watford Borough Council and Kier Property to develop a large area of land to the south of Watford General Hospital.
Visitors were told the Riverwell scheme - formerly known as the health campus – included proposals for a pedestrianised square with a hotel, shops, restaurant, new flats, family homes, a community centre, a primary school with two reception classes and a cleaning up of the River Colne.
The scheme also proposes to consolidate “existing surface car parks” for Watford General Hospital into a multi-storey car park with 1,400 spaces. A planning application will be submitted later this month.
Andrew Storey, senior development director at Kier Property, said: “We would like to thank everyone who come along to the open days and shared their views with us on the emerging masterplan. We will consider all the comments received as we continue to develop the proposals."
Information from the open day is available at www.riverwell-regeneration.com and further information can be found at www.watfordriverwell.com
