A giant birthday card with more than 200 signatures has been presented to a chairman of a hospital trust.

To celebrate 70 years of the NHS, which took place on July 5, Watford Labour thought of the idea as a display of gratitude to the NHS staff in Watford for all of the work they do.

Last week, parliamentary candidate Chris Ostrowski gave the card to the chairman of the West Herts NHS Trust, Steve Barnett.

Mr Ostrowski said: "It was lovely to see so many Watford families sign the card to say 'Happy Birthday and 'Thank you' to the hard-working NHS staff who look after us all so well. Many children who were born in Watford General, including my own, signed the card and I was struck by the number of people in Watford who said, 'I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the NHS'.

“Here's to another 70 years."
