A motorway service operator will host a series of public meetings ahead of plans to build a major development on a Green Belt site.

Moto Hospitality Limited will hold consultation events to discuss their plans to install a new motorway service station at junction 20 of the M25, at Kings Langley.

Meetings are currently scheduled for:

  • October 24 between 9am-6pm at a pop-up kiosk in the upper mall of the intu shopping centre, Watford.
  • October 24 between 4pm-8.30pm at Kings House Business Centre, Station Road, Kings Langley.
  • October 25 between 2pm-8pm at Manor House Sports and Social Centre, Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Langley.

Plans to build on the site were mooted in 2015. The motorway service provider recently rekindled the proposal and although plans are yet to be finalised, the new service area could include a 100-bed hotel, a 1,000-space car park and shops and other facilities.

Service station access would be via a new roundabout built on the A41 between junction 20 and St Paul’s Church, Langleybury.

A planning application is likely by the end of the year.

The Liberal Democrats came out strongly against the initial proposal by starting a petition. The campaign also includes opposition to a second site between junction 16 and 17 near Maple Cross by service rivals, Extra.
