Witnesses heard a “loud bang” after a car crashed near a primary school.
All emergency crews were called to Bedmond Road, near Abbots Langley School, shortly before 3.30pm.
A silver DS Prestige was involved in a collision with what is believed to have been a lamppost and the road was shut while crews dealt with the incident.
No other vehicles were involved and no pedestrians were injured.
The road has reopened and recovery for the crashed car is ongoing.
Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue has confirmed that one casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.
The East of England Ambulance Service has confirmed one man was taken to Watford General Hospital.
