A brand new one-stop cycle shop offering servicing, repairs and tuition has opened.

Leavesden Cycle Hub located in the new community building in Leavesden Country Park was officially launched on September 30.

The hub, off College Road in Abbots Langley, offers a range of services including bike registering and hire, reconditioned bike sales, cycle tuition and repairs.

The new facility, made possible by Three Rivers District Council in partnership with Watford Cycle Hub and One YMCA, is seeking volunteers to help support bike rides and Kids Cycle Club. Training and funding to qualify as a Ride Leader or Cycle Coach is available.

Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, lead member for cycling officially opened the Hub saying: “Cycling has a wide range of benefits – not just in reducing pollution and congestion on the roads, but it’s also a great form of exercise.

“Leavesden Cycle Hub is a great addition to the park and provides the opportunity for anyone to come down and give cycling a go.”

Kate Jenkins general manager Watford Cycle Hub said: “What an amazing setting for us to develop the support we can provide to the local community and the wider Three Rivers district.

“The initial interest has been tremendous. We’ve had a two-year-old on our ‘Tadpole’ balance bike, whole families on our initial led ride, bookings for our kid’s school holiday courses, bikes repaired and donations reconditioned by our mechanics to find new life with happy customers.

“Whatever your interest; learning to ride at the start of your cycling journey, seeking new routes or stretching the boundaries – let us help you.”
