It’s my pleasure to wish all residents of Watford a very merry Christmas, and a happy and prosperous new year.

Being the MP for Watford continues to be a fantastic privilege, and I have worked every day of 2018 to represent my constituents to the best of my ability, and deliver significant improvements to our town.

I am fully committed to improving Watford General Hospital, and ensuring that my constituents have access to good quality healthcare. After hearing that money was needed for our A&E, I invited the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to Watford to see first-hand how money could be used to improve patient care in A&E by making it more efficient. I secured £11 million from the Government to build ten new ‘major’ cubicles for adults, and a brand new paediatric assessment centre.

As a commuter, I also know that the station isn’t fit for purpose and so I have been working on securing funds for its redevelopment. I’m delighted that I’ve got the Government’s support for a £40 million new passenger bridge, and a new entrance on the east side. This is an important step in wider plans for the total development of our station.

Every Monday I invite a school to Parliament for a tour and Q&A, and I really look forward to those. This year I welcomed the opening of two new schools in our area.

I held my eighth Watford Jobs Fair in September and was delighted to see record attendance, with more than 1,000 vacancies available on the day.

Here’s to a great 2019!
