A man has died after he became unwell at a shopping centre.
Emergency services rushed to intu Watford in the town centre just before midday yesterday (Friday).
A police spokeswoman confirmed they were called to near Debenhams on the ground floor, at 11.52am, to reports a man had collapsed.
Paramedics, as well as staff from intu, police officers, and even off-duty nurses, tried to resuscitate the man but they were unable to save his life.
Shoppers reportedly looked on in "shock" as the incident unfolded in the busy shopping area and police kept the scene clear to allow paramedics space.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed next of kin are aware and the man's death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesman for intu added: "We are very sorry to say that a customer became unwell at our centre yesterday afternoon. Our staff administered first aid immediately and paramedics arrived very quickly, but despite the medical team's best efforts, he passed away.
"Our deepest sympathies are with his family and friends."
