A speed camera that was thought to have been sabotaged was in fact hit by a car.
The camera on the junction between Rickmansworth Road and Harwoods Road was hit by a car within the last few days and left facing away from the road.
The busy road has several cameras slowing drivers down and allowing it to be safer for pedestrians, including schoolchildren, as well as drivers pulling out of side-roads into Rickmansworth Road.
A police spokesperson said: "We have been made aware that a vehicle struck the camera and that the driver reported the damage immediately.
"A safety inspection is now being arranged."
