The planning application for a block of flats along Vicarage Road has been accepted.
The development of 30 flats near the Watford FC stadium replaces the print works and three shops along the road.
The development was initially intended to have 33 flats, but the first application had been rejected by Watford borough councillors who had concerns about the height and scale of the building.
The developer went away and reworked the plan in line with the issues raised. The revised plan for the development shows a three and four storey building.
However, there is no parking allocation for the development since the council says the area is already accessible.
The planning application was unanimously passed.

Councillor Peter Jeffree said “The development meets all of the required national planning guidelines and provides much needed housing for our community as well as state-of-the-art commercial units which will enhance the streetscape in the area considerably. We unanimously approved of this development.”
There has been a public outcry about the plans as neighbours to the development post their complaints to the planning application’s portal.
One complaint from a neighbour, Carla Clarke, said: “Watford is the most densely populated area in Hertfordshire with narrow extremely busy road's and busy through traffic.
“There is no parking on the design. This will create a potentially hazardous situation in the area with people parking up after 6.30pm on kerbs & pavements.
“It is unrealistic to expect this number of units to have no cars, guests or visitors who require parking.”
