Engineers have fixed a faulty set of traffic lights on a major route out of Watford.
Drivers had been facing delays twice as long as usual in Stephenson Way out to the M1 earlier this week - with queues stretching back to Watford ring road during the evening rush hour.
Hertfordshire County Council engineers were sent to the scene yesterday to investigate what was causing the delays.
They found there was a problem with the set of lights at the Berrygrove roundabout, where the M1 and A41 meet, but they were able to fix the problem.
The council has apologised for any inconvenience to motorists caught up in the longer delays.
