After reading a report in the Watford Observer (Watford declares climate emergency in bid to change, July 12) where councillors on both sides of the council chamber declare a climate emergency to make the whole of Watford carbon neutral by 2030, I wonder how serious each councillor is with leaving their own carbon footprints for future generations.

To achieve this 2030 objective councillors and residents of Watford must be bold and take action rather than words as we see in the photoshoot of councillors holding up placards that accompanies the report. If councillors are giving cause for concern regarding leaving a good carbon footprint for future generations then sacrifices will have to be made with less air flights, avoid eating red meat, walk instead of using the car, stop using tumble dryers and use a washing line, stop using dishwashers and use elbow grease, take less showers and baths, drink tap water instead of buying plastic and have your milk delivered in glass bottles.

With more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere nowadays our climate must be treated with esteem so therefore we should all do our bit in creating a better planet for future generations.
