Take a trip to the past on a vintage train travelling through the Metropolitan line.

Passengers can re-live the 1950s thanks to the London Transport Museum, with the opportunity to commute the Metropolitan line route on a 1950s ex British Rail 4TC coaches.

The vintage coaches will be hauled and moved by Sarah Siddons, one of the few electric locomotives still in service and a Class 20 locomotive.

Four separate journeys are available to purchase for both September 7 and September 8, 2019 – Wembley park to Amersham, two scheduled journeys for Amersham return via Harrow-on-the-Hill and a route from Amersham to Wembley Park.

The routes will pass through areas including Northwood and Rickmansworth; however, they will not be stopping at those stations.

Passengers at Amersham station will be greeted with costumed characters to immerse guests into the 1950s era.

A pop-up London Transport Museum shop will be selling Metropolitan line themed gifts – including patterned socks inspired by the Tube seating fabric, underground vintage originals and a range of London Underground themed souvenirs.

Exclusive to the trips on September 8, customers can also enjoy free heritage rides to Amersham Old Town where the annual Heritage Day is taking place, on buses including the RM2 from the Museum’s collection.
