Police have swarmed a country lane after a man's body was found yesterday afternoon.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to Hogg Lane, near Elstree Aerodrome, shortly after 3.30pm on Friday.

A man had been found dead and he had been stabbed.

But it is the Met Police leading the investigation - because they are linking it to a murder that happened around only five miles or so away earlier the night before.

The Met were already investigating a double stabbing which happened on Thursday night.

A man aged in his 30s was found with stab wounds in a car in a car park at Scratchwood Park off the A1 Barnet Bypass.

Paramedics worked to save his life but he died at the scene.

Pictures then showed  a blue forensic tent erected in a car park at Scratchwood, while the A1 was closed for a period of time between Edgware and Borehamwood.

A second man, in his 20s was also found at Scratchwood suffering from stab wounds and he was taken to hospital.

The Met had initially been called to Courtland Avenue, on the other side of the A1, after reports of a fight, but no victims or suspects were traced.

Minutes later, the Met were called to Scratchwood Park by the London Ambulance Service.

Hogg Lane is on the edge of Elstree. It's the entrance to Elstree Aerdrome. Aldenham Country Park and Habs Boys' and Girls' schools are both close by too.

Hogg Lane is the only way in and out of Elstree Aerodrome.

In a tweet this morning, the aerodrome said: "A non-aviation related incident has occured in Hogg Lane and the police have closed tall access. It is likely to stay closed all day & possibly Sunday also."
