THOSE who want to have more fun might want to try going blonde and raising charity money.

As part of the Peace Hospice's fundraising week, Go Yellow, members of the public are being encouraged to take the plunge and dye their hair.

Hairdressing salons such as Saks in Clarendon Road, Watford, have teamed up with the Peace Hospice inviting customers to Go Yellow themselves.

A spokesman for the Peace Hospice said: "People could either get sponsored to go blonde or go to a participating salon and they would make a donation for everyone that had their highlights or tints done there.

"Anyone that has got any yellow-related fundraising ideas can get involved."

Go Yellow week, a national hospice awareness week, takes place from Saturday, June 15, to Sunday, June 23, beginning in Watford with the Sunflower Ball and ending with abseiling down the side of The Harlequin shopping centre.

Mr Daniel Fletcher, director of fundraising, said: "Go Yellow 2002 is a fun way to celebrate and support the work of hospices. Yellow is an optimistic colour, which is why the sunflower was chosen as the national hospice emblem."
