Borehamwood drivers face at least one more chaotic rush hour due to a road closure.
Allum Lane is closed in both directions near the Asda petrol station because of roadworks.
There is no access in Allum Lane between Deacons Hill Road and the mini-roundabout near the train station.
Affinity Water says it expects the road to reopen sometime tomorrow (Tuesday), although Hertfordshire County Council has granted a 'retrospective' permit until Thursday.
There is a chance the road will reopen this evening.
Affinity Water shut the road temporarily last week for a short period of time before returning again yesterday due to a second burst water main.
Due to the closure, drivers are diverting via Furzehill Road and Barnet Lane towards Elstree, as well as Theobald Street towards Radlett, which is causing major traffic disruption on these roads, particularly during the rush hour.
Buses are also on diversion. Services 306, 823, B77 & TfL107 are diverting via Furzehill Road and Barnet Lane.
