The front end of a Mercedes was completely wrecked after it crashed in the early hours of this morning.
Police received a 999 call to Lower High Street in Watford, near Bushey Arches, at around 1am.
When officers arrived, they found a smashed-up white Mercedes at a junction at Lower High Street and Dalton Way.
The driver had also knocked down a set of traffic lights and caused significant damage to other parts of the junction.
Police were told that four men had been seen running from the vehicle so police searched the area.
At nearby Tesco, four men were spotted but they made off from police again.
Two men were later detained by police.
- One man, found in possession of £1,000 in cash, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs. He was taken to hospital.
- The other man detained was released at the scene.
