A former pub will be converted into flats after planning permission was granted.
Councillors unanimously supported a scheme in Shenley to turn the King William IV pub into housing.
The London Road building has been closed since September and and there are hoardings around it.
With the support from the planning committee at Hertsmere Borough Council last Thursday, the building will now be home to four two-bedroom apartments.
The plans also include a two-storey rear extension, so in total, there will be six two-bedroom flats.
It comes with 15 parking spaces, however none of the flats will be considered "affordable".
Speaking during the meeting, in which councillors and officers were sat apart to observe social distancing measures amid the coronavirus pandemic, councillor John Graham described the scheme as "wonderful and fantastic", referring to the design.
Although the scheme has been approved, it was on the condition that council officers go back to the developer and talk to them about how the plans could be made more sustainable.
Councillor Jerry Evans, opening the debate, said solar panels would work well on the flat roof of the building, and his thoughts were echoed by other members sitting in the council chamber.
Two formal objections had been submitted by members of the public during the consultation period of these plans.
One of the concerns stated was the plans were "out of character" for the area.
