A FORMER pub is due to be divided into housing.

Plans have been put forward to turn a house that was formerly the New Inn pub on Walney into three properties.

According to the plans, the pub opened in 1839 and was sold by Dutton's Brewery in 1975.

A statement making up the plans for the Biggar Village site said: "This proposal is to divide the property into three dwellings, one taking the entire historical building and dividing the modern blockwork extension into two three-bedroom units.

"The proposed works requiring listed building consent will be to block up the modern internal doorway in the ground floor between the historical outbuilding and the blockwork extension.

"There are no internal or external works planned for the historical part of the building."

The building lies in the Biggar Village Conservation Area.

The proposals are currently out for consultation with neighbours.
