A railway company is offering students the chance to save money on their travels with a selection of discounts on season tickets.

London Northwestern Railway (LWNR) is offering the discounts during this academic term, with offers including 50 per cent off season tickets for students aged 16 or over and 25 per cent off for those 15 or under.

LWNR says the move will save students having to buy a ticket each day and reduces their social contact at a station.

Lawrence Bowman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, says: “Coronavirus has had a significant impact on our lives and we understand that many parents will be anxious about sending their kids back to school.

“We also know that the pandemic has affected the finances of families across the UK so we wanted to offer a helping hand with two generous discounts on our student season tickets.

“In addition to the special offers, we have also introduced extra measures to help support social distancing and stepped up our cleaning, to help our customers adjust to the new way of travelling.”

Safety measures put in place by LWNR to help passengers travel safely include all trains being cleaned with the latest antiviral equipment.

Social distancing has also been implemented on platforms, stairs and escalators, while new signs and one-way systems have also been applied at train stations.

LWNR is also reminding passengers to maintain social distancing whenever possible and wear a face covering at all times unless exempt.

Meanwhile, the railway company said it will be introducing a new timetable on Sunday, September 6, in a bid to increase service levels in time for the return of schools and workplaces.
