St James CE High School in Farnworth made the 'difficult decision' to send Year 11 pupils home.
It is the third year bubble to be affected by the virus, with Year Seven having returned and Year 10 pupil due to go back tomorrow
St James' CE High School is one of a number of schools throughout Bolton to be affected with the bubbles closing after a confirmed test to contain the spread of the virus.
But thanks to online teaching, pupils affected are still able to attend their timetabled lessons, albeit virtually.
The school remains open to pupils in Years Seven, Eight and Nine.
Pupils have to isolate for 14-days after a positive coronavirus test.
In a letter to parents and carers, the school said: "After full consultation with Bolton Public Health Team I made the difficult decision to send Y11students home to self-isolate for 14 days."
We continue to have a range of strategies in place at school to prevent the spread of infection."
Schools undergo deep cleans and have a number of safety measures in place to limit movement around school.
