A public art memorial could be placed outside Watford General Hospital in respect for the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Watford Borough Council is looking to commission a sculpture as a memorial that will be placed in a spot around the main entrance of the hospital.
The idea for the memorial is to reflect how Watford came together during the pandemic to help one another, and to pay tribute to the patients and NHS workers who died from the virus.
The Arts Council hopes to visit the exhibition of artworks made and collected during the pandemic as part of community engagement for the project.
An artist for the sculpture is expected to be assigned by January 2021, and it should be in place around April or May.
Now a search is ongoing to find an artist to lead the project, with applications closing by January 4. A salary between £15,000 and £20,000 is being offered.
