Three friends working at Watford General Hospital will be throwing themselves out of a plane to raise money for its maternity unit.

Ellie Kinson, 24, Tasha Parsons, 23 and Isabella Luxton, 22, will be skydiving from 15,000ft later this year to “give something back” to the NHS for all the work they have done during the coronavirus pandemic.

The trio have planned on doing a skydive for a while, so decided that they will tick it off their bucket list while raising money.

Their jump has been booked for April, although this may change due to coronavirus restrictions.

Ellie said: “We just wanted to do the most extreme thing possible really, the NHS has done so much for us and we just wanted to give something back.

“So, we thought that this is something on all our bucket lists to do eventually but doing it while raising money we thought would be the best thing to do.”

Ellie, along with Isabella and Tasha, work in the maternity ward at Watford General and are raising money for the West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity Raise.

The money will then go to the maternity unit at the hospital to help it continue to provide high-quality maternity care for women during their pregnancy, labour and after the birth of their baby, Ellie said.

The trio have smashed their target of raising £1,000, with more than £2,000 having been donated to their Just Giving page.

Ellie said: “Initially we only set a target of £1,000 and then we exceeded that and then we set it £2,000 and we have exceeded that as well.

“So, we are trying to get as much as possible for the charity. We have already hit our target, but we’re still going and there is plenty of time until April to fundraise as much as possible.”
