Flood warnings remain in place for Watford and Rickmansworth today after heavy rainfall yesterday saw some areas submerged.

An amber flood alert, meaning flooding is possible is in place today for Watford and a red flood warning, meaning flooding is expected and immediate actions is required, is in place for Rickmansworth.

Water Lane, Cassiobury Park and Rickmansworth Aquadrome flooded yesterday and areas around the River Colne are expected to flood today, the UK Government’s flood agency has warned.

Heavy rain has fallen across the River Colne catchment over the last few days causing river levels to rise. Meaning there is a likelihood of flooding to properties and low lying areas within the Batchworth, Money Hill and Maple Cross area.

The flood agency warned: “Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. No further rain is forecast today but river levels will remain high throughout the day.”
