Two people were taken to hospital after a crash between an ambulance and a car.

Emergency services were in Chalk Hill, Watford, for hours on the evening of Saturday, January 30, following the collision which involved a Volkswagen Polo and an ambulance.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says it was called to the incident shortly before 7.55pm - road closures were put in place as work was carried out at the scene.

The force said two ambulance crew members were taken to hospital to have their injuries assessed, but they were not deemed to be life threatening or changing.

The occupants of the Polo were assessed at the scene for any injuries, police said.

Some traffic lights which had been damaged after the crash were repaired and the vehicles were recovered.

Police said the road reopened shortly before midnight.

Earlier this year there had been a separate incident where a vehicle and an ambulance were involved in a collision, which occurred at the A41 junction with Woodmere Avenue on January 15.

Footage shows a private ambulance that was on its way to an emergency call in Edgware pulling out to the dual carriageway when a van on the main road collides with the ambulance, spinning it.
