Police are investigating a "distressing incident" where a man was physically assaulted and threatened with a metal pole.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says the incident occurred outside Savers in High Street, Watford, between 2.10pm and 2.15pm on Wednesday, January 27.

The victim was physically assaulted by a customer who also threatened him with a metal pole.

Detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for information and witnesses.

Detective Constable Gemma Ball, from the Case Investigation Team, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances.

“We are now appealing for witnesses as it happened in a high footfall area, and we believe there were many other people around at the time who may have seen what happened. If you can help, please get in touch.”

  • Kerry Reynolds, aged 37, of Prestwick Road, South Oxhey, has been charged with assault and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with this incident. He has been remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
