A driver narrowly missed being struck by a brick that had been thrown off by a bridge by a boy.
The incident happened on the A41 in northern Watford on Sunday afternoon.
A woman was travelling down the A41 shortly after 4pm when she noticed two boys standing on a footbridge over the dual carriageway near the junction with the A405.
Fortunately she was able to brake in time to be avoid being hit by a brick that was lobbed by one of the boys onto the road below as she approached.
Police were called to the area but were unable to find any suspects.
Sergeant Luke Mitchell, of the Watford safer neighbourhood team, said: "Throwing any items from a height onto a moving carriageway is extremely dangerous and could cause serious injury or worse to innocent motorists.
"If you were in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed what happened, or have any information that could assist us, then please get in touch."
