A coronavirus testing site in Watford is closing for good as a new vaccination centre opens in the town.
The new vaccine site officially opened at Watford Town Hall today (February 11), with the centre based in the extension to the building.
Watford Borough Council says the opening means the testing site in the Town Hall car park for people with symptoms of Covid-19 has now closed.
But the walk-through testing site in King George V playing fields in Chaffinch Lane, Watford, is still open.
Appointments at the site, which has limited number of parking spaces, are available every day from 8am-8pm.
The council said on twitter: “The Covid-19 testing centre in the Town Hall Car Park will no longer be available due to the vaccination centre opening on the site. Testing is still operational in King George V car park.”

The new vaccine site in Watford Town Hall has the capacity to administer thousands of vaccines each week.
Vaccinations at the site are by appointment only and people should wait to be called before attending any vaccination centre.
The Covid vaccine is being offered to:
- people aged 70 and over
- people who are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
- people who live or work in care homes
- health and social care workers
