Traffic using a number of roads in Watford and the surrounding areas is set to be disrupted by temporary closures from the end of this month.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer outlines the works that may start from March 29 and the orders could last for up to 18 months.

However, the restrictions will only be enforced at times advised by traffic signs posted or or near the relevant roads.

A section of Whippendell Road, from its junction with Hagden Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 25 metres, is due to be shut to allow water connection works to be carried out.

Another order, if approved, that will come into force on that day will prohibit traffic from using the following lengths of road, apart for access:

St Johns Road from its junction with Clarendon Road north westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m.

Clarendon Road from its junction with St Johns Road southwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

Traffic will also be prevented from making a left turn from St Johns Road into Clarendon Road, and a right turn from Clarendon Road, into St Johns Road, while the work is taking place.

Also on March 29, another order is scheduled to come onto effect for the closure of part of Radlett Road so vegetation in the vicinity can be removed.

This means traffic will be prevented from using that length of Radlett Road from its junction with Queens Road north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 160m.

Meanwhile, a section of Coppermill Lane in West Hyde may also be closed from as early as March 29 to enable cabling works to be carried out.

The closure will be from a point in line with the eastern boundary of the Coy Carp pub south eastwards and south westwards for approximately 160m.

Two days later on March 31 the county council propose to make an order to close Westbury Road, Northwood, from its junction with Bourne End Road south westwards and north westwards to its junction with South Approach, a distance of approximately 103m for the replacement of an existing sign post.
