A major road into Watford is closed after a car crashed onto a tree earlier this morning.
Police are currently at the scene of the crash in Hempstead Road, which happened at at 7.24am today (Friday, March 12).
A grey Volkswagen Jetta collided with a tree, Hertfordshire Constulary have said.
The driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Hempstead Road (A411) is shut from the M25 roundabout to Courtlands Drive following the collision.
Police have advised drivers to avoid the area.
A Herts police spokeperson said: "Police were called at 7.24am this morning (Friday 12 March) to reports of a collision in Hempstead Road, Watford.
"The ambulance service and fire and rescue service also attended. One vehicle was involved – a grey Volkswagen Jetta – which had collided with a tree.
"The driver - a man in his twenties - was reported to be trapped in the vehicle. He sustained a broken collar bone and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
"The road is currently closed between the M25 roundabout and Courtlands Drive. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
"Recovery is being arranged for the vehicle."
In a Twitter post, a spokesperson for Watford Police said: "We are currently at the scene of a collision in Hempstead Road, Watford.
"The road is currently shut from the M25 roundabout to Courtlands Drive and we politely advise motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternative route. Thank you."
