A nursery that was set up to support families working in film and television is opening its doors to the wider public for the first time.

The WonderWorks nursery at Leavesden’s Warner Bros Studios opened in 2015 with the aim to provide accessible, affordable, and flexible childcare services for parents working in the media industry.

But this ethos is now being extended into the wider community to provide spaces for local children, the nursery said.

The brainchild of Peaky Blinders actor Charlotte Riley and business partner Mark Radcliffe, the nursery offers child-centred learning from qualified and professional teachers for children from birth – five years old, as well as holiday clubs for older children, aged five – 11 years old.

The nursery uses a blended learning approach to encourage children to lead their own learning and is tailored to support individual learning styles.

With a key focus on outdoor play, children are encouraged to spend as much time as possible in the secure outdoor play area.

Charlotte said: “We are thrilled to bring The WonderWorks to the local community. We have worked hard to create a nurturing, inspiring environment that allows children to grow and develop, and I feel proud of what we’ve achieved so far.

“Our children are happy, engaged and stimulated; and we are delighted to be able to offer a unique, flexible solution for working parents in the Watford area.”
