Twisted Monkey will continue operating under new management, after the bar’s former licence holder was stripped of their licence due to alleged criminal activity.

It was previously reported that Twisted Monkey and Basement, both venues located at 46 The Parade, had its licence revoked as a member connected to the venue is under investigation for their alleged involvement in criminal activities at the site.

But now new management will continue to operate both Twisted Monkey and Basement under a shadow licence.

And under the new management, an application has been made for outdoor seating with 14 tables and 58 chairs. If accepted, the application would permit for the seating to be available from 12pm to 1am, Monday to Sunday.

According to Watford Borough Council, the former licence was revoked to ensure the safeguarding of preventing crime and disorder, the prevention of public nuisance and for public safety.

The licence holders had up until March 4 to lodge an appeal, but no appeal was made.

Further information about the alleged criminal activity cannot be reported at the moment due to a pending court case.
