The first food hygiene ratings this year for eateries across Watford have been published by the Food Standards Agency.

There was a hiatus in the beginning of this year of Local Authority Inspectors rating establishments across the local area to make sure that food hygiene is up to code and holds good food safety standards.

Before March, the last place rated was Bulgarian Rose on December 22, 2020 – with was given a 4, a ‘good’ rating.

Ratings on a scale are then issued to rank the hygiene standards at the time of inspection.

Five is top of the scale, meaning the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law and zero is at the bottom of the scale, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.

In 2020, just seven places were found needing some or urgent improvements.

Here is a breakdown of the latest food hygiene ratings issued in 2021:

Charisma – Cakes and Cookies

On March 8, the private address was inspected and given an overall ‘very good’ rating of 5.

Specifically, it was found that the hygienic food handling – including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, and the management of food safety checks were ‘very good’.

The cleanliness and condition of the facilities was rated ‘good’.

Mama’s Yard Limited

The private address was inspected on March 12 and overall was rated 4, ‘good’.

Both the hygienic handling of food, and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities were ‘good’.

But the management of food safety checks were ‘generally satisfactory’.

Grazing Girls Ltd and the Flavour Box were both inspected on March 23, but the final rating has not been issued yet.

Expect to see a new monthly roundup of food hygiene ratings – including the ratings for Grazing Girls and Flavour Box- next month.
