Staff and residents at care homes across Watford will be celebrating Easter slightly differently this year by taking part in a virtual Easter show.

The show will be hosted by Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust and Watford Borough Council with musical guests and Easter eggs.

More than 1,000 Easter Eggs have been donated by the charity SEWA Day as well as a variety of mini eggs and spring flowers donated by The Rotary Club.

The entertainment will be hosted by Vibe 1076 DJ, Lee Partridge and will feature music and entertainment. Easter baskets of mini eggs and party packs to decorate and provide fun for all residents and care homes will be delivered to 21 care homes 72 hours before the event on Saturday 3rd April at 3pm.

Mayor Peter Taylor will be among more than 1,000 other participants on Saturday 3rd April at 3pm.

He said: “I am delighted to be taking part in another dementia friendly event following on from the success of the Valentines Cream Tea Show.

"Events like these are vital in ensuring people with dementia or those who are isolated have the opportunity to socialise, connect with their community and have fun.

"We want to be a town where everyone can thrive and live fulfilling lives and by making the town better for elderly residents and people living with dementia we are helping people do just that.

"I’d like to thank everyone who got involved in making these events so special.”

The event is part of the Watford FC CSE Trust’s ‘Golden Memories’ initiative, a reminiscence programme for people with mild to moderate dementia which uses memorabilia along with ‘magic moments’ from the club’s history to ‘stimulate the senses and evoke personal memories’.
