With the Hornets on the brink of promotion, Watford supporters will likely wish to bask themselves in sunshine if the club is victorious in the major match.

The Hornets are guaranteed promotion on Saturday (April 24) if they beat Millwall at Vicarage Road, and it will see the club go up at the first time of asking.

And while fans are unable to be inside Vicarage Road to watch it unfold, fans are able to gather in groups of six at outdoor spots to stream the match and celebrate.

Fortunately, the day is forecast to be a bright one weather-wise, with the Met Office predicting temperatures of up to 15 degrees for much of the day in Watford.

By the time the game begins at 3pm, the Met Office says temperatures will have reached its 15 degrees peak which will last with clear skies until around 5pm.

By 6pm some clouds will appear and the temperature will begin to slowly plummet.

It is forecasted to be around 13 degrees by 7pm, and 11 degrees by 8pm.

So while the day is not scorching-hot, the weather will still be welcome for those in pub gardens or sitting in private gardens for the big day.

If Watford can secure promotion, Covid restrictions will continue to be in place to stop large gatherings and close contact.

There will be officers in place around town and near the Parade to make sure that those enjoying the weather and possibly celebrating a victory continue to follow the rules in place.

There have been murmurings of fans venturing into the town centre and The Parade on Saturday if everything goes to plan – but Watford’s chief inspector has reminded fans to behave responsibly.

Watford's match on Saturday kicks off at 3pm but a return to top flight football may be even closer than it is now, dependent on Brentford's game against Bournemouth which starts earlier the same day, at 12.30pm.
