Rickmansworth School celebrated Earth Day this week by hoisting a flag recognising its excellence in environmental learning.

Pupils raised the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag on Thursday - an internationally recognised award that empowers students to bring about change and learn about a range of environmental issues.

Tony Walker, chair of governors, and many of the eco committee members were present for this historic moment, and the flag was raised by one of the students from the school’s eco committee.

To celebrate Earth Day, a litter pick was conducted by Year 7 students from the committee.

The School also held eco-themed assemblies along with discussions and debates around some of the important issues surrounding climate change and sustainability.

Throughout the day, students enjoyed lessons focussed on key environmental issues.

The school also invited students and their families to join in a three-hour local litter pick around Croxley Green on Earth Day itself.
