Watford Borough Council has warned that a dangerous tree requiring major work has been cordoned off after high winds caused one of its large branches the break.

A team of experts will be assessing the tree, which is near the Minerva Drive entrance to Goodwood Recreation Ground, as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for Watford council said: “Veolia who manage parks on behalf of the council are currently sorting it out and doing an inspection of the tree to make sure it is stable.”

This comes as another tree collapsed onto a main road in Croxley Green and motorists have been advised to avoid Baldwins Lane as it has been entirely covered by the tree.

Croxley Green Parish Council says that both Hertfordshire Constabulary and Herts Highways have bene made aware of the fallen tree.

Damages to outdoor structures and trees are likely to continue as the Met Office has placed a yellow weather warning.

The windy weather may also lead to some travel disruptions.
