Home goods company The Range will open a new branch in Watford this month.

The new shop will be located at Watford Arches Retail Park and is due to open on Friday, June 25.

The company has confirmed it will be moving into the former Mothercare unit.

The existing space in St Albans Road will begin a phased closure in line with the move to the new retail park, although a final date for its closure is yet to be announced.

Staff at the existing store will be transferring to the new location and a total of 80 full and part-time jobs will be created when The Arches branch is completely opened.

Watford Observer:

There are also plans to extend the new store into the next-door B&Q Trade Unit later this year, The Range said.

Talking about the expansion, a spokesperson said: "This will give The Range the chance to add more amazing products, increase the size of departments and also introduce an outdoor garden centre and Iceland to the replacement Watford store.

"The new Watford store will provide great value products across home interiors and DIY departments and offer everyday essentials from Petcare to cleaning supplies.

"Customers will be able to shop their favourite Range products in their new store and can visit therange.co.uk for anything they can’t find in-store."

A move for The Range has been on the cards ever since planning permission was granted for 1,214 homes in December 2019 at its current site in St Albans Road.

The land near Watford Junction is to be regenerated into eleven blocks of flats, including towers of 28, 22, and 20 storeys.

Watford Observer:

The TK Maxx store next door to The Range is to also close to make way for the development.

A replacement TK Maxx store is being created at Century Park Retail Park, documents on Watford Borough Council's planning portal revealed in 2019.
