Police are investigating after an ice cream man was left in fear when a man reportedly shouted at him before banging on his van.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 26, when the ice cream man was serving customers in Fulford Grove, South Oxhey.

Just before 4pm, he was allegedly approached by a man who began shouting at him, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.

The victim drove away in fear and continued to serve customers in Ashridge Drive.

But the same man subsequently approached again and is reported to have started banging on the door and windows of the van.

The victim again drove off in fear, towards the police station, where officers were informed about the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information.

PC Lauren Eifert, who is investigating, said: “The victim was not injured during the incident but was left in fear for his safety.

“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around what happened and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to email lauren.eifert@herts.pnn.police.uk, report information online at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/39206/21.
