A man was arrested near Chorleywood railway station after speeding on the wrong side of the road towards police.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Sunday, May 30, and involved the man's car nearly crashing into a police vehicle.

A Herts Police spokeswoman said: "A Nissan Micra was seen to travel down the wrong side of the road at speed towards a police vehicle.

"The vehicle was stopped and the driver was searched.

"A drugs wipe was also carried out due to a smell of cannabis in the vehicle and provided a positive result."

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
