A trial date has been set for an 18-year-old who has been charged in connection with a stabbing in a shopping parade in Watford.

Freddie Gathithi appeared at St Albans Crown Court charged with two offences in relation to the incident in The Brow on April 27.

An 18-year-old had suffered a stab wound following an altercation.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and he has since been discharged.

Gathithi, of Boundary Way, Watford, appeared in court via video-link and confirmed his name and date of birth during the short plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday, June 4.

He pleaded not guilty to unlawful and maliciously wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a ‘Rambo’ knife.

He also pleaded not guilty to assault by beating and being in possession of an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed following an incident back in February.

Judge Michael Kay QC set a trial date for February 21, 2022.

Until then Gathithi must not enter Watford and stick to a curfew between 7pm and 7am each day at another address.
