A local parliamentary constituency would be broken up and a brand new one created under boundary proposals published overnight.

The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is an independent public body, responsible for reviewing Parliamentary constituency boundaries in the country.

The body has been reviewing boundary lines which could be implemented in 2023.

Members of the public now have eight weeks to have their say on the proposals, which could be revised based on responses from constituents.

So what's changing?

If these proposals are passed, a new Three Rivers constituency would be created, broadly in line with the current Three Rivers district.

Currently, residents in most of Three Rivers are represented by Gagan Mohindra, the Conservative MP for South West Hertfordshire.

South West Hertfordshire, which also includes parts of Dacorum like Tring and Berkhamsted, would be abolished, with all of the towns and villages moving into the constituencies of either Three Rivers, Hemel Hempstead, or Harpenden & Berkhamsted, which is also brand new.

The new constituency of Three Rivers means changes to boundaries in Watford and Hertsmere.

Below is a closer look at what would change in your area.

Watford

The total electorate in Watford would reduce from 83,000 or so in 2019 down to 70,000.

If Dean Russell, the town's Conservative MP was to stand again in the next election, he would no longer be standing for residents in Abbots Langley, Leavesden, Carpenders Park, Hunton Bridge, or Oxhey Hall.

These areas all fall into the proposed Three Rivers constituency.

However, 'Bushey North', would transfer from Hertsmere to Watford. The new Bushey North ward runs between the current Watford boundary at Water Lane up to Grange Road, and will include Bushey Hall and Park Avenue, and homes off Aldenham Road.

Main proposed settlements: Watford, Garston (including Woodside and Kingswood estates), Oxhey, Bushey North

Three Rivers

The district of Three Rivers is where the biggest change is set to happen at parliamentary level.

All residents who pay their council tax to Three Rivers District Council will all fall under the new Three Rivers parliamentary constituency.

Bedmond would move from its current St Albans constituency to Three Rivers, while Abbots Langley, Leavesden, Hunton Bridge, Carpenders Park, and Oxhey Hall would join from Watford.

The whole village of Kings Langley would also fall under the Three Rivers constituency.

Main proposed settlements: Rickmansworth, Abbots Langley, Croxley Green, South Oxhey, Carpenders Park, Kings Langley, Bedmond, Leavesden, Chorleywood, Mill End & Maple Cross, Sarratt, Moor Park, Oxhey Hall

Hertsmere

As mentioned, Bushey North would be lost to Watford, but Hertsmere would gain Northaw & Cuffley from its current constituency of Broxbourne.

Main proposed settlements: Bushey (Park, St James + Heath), Borehamwood, Elstree, Radlett, Potters Bar, Shenley, Aldenham, Letchmore Heath, Northaw, Cuffley
