A church has plans to extend helping to create new spaces for mental health services, children and youth groups, and other community facilities.

Wellspring Church in Watford has a £2 million target to help make the extension a reality and so far £600,000 has been raised.

The fundraising campaign has recently been boosted by a £54,000 grant from the Allchurches Trust.

Senior Minster Reverend Tim Roberts said: "We are grateful to God for this grant of £54,000 from AllChurches Trust - it is a major thumbs-up from a leading foundation with a thorough scrutiny process.

"They have given us the maximum their grant policy will allow them for a project of this size."

Reverend Roberts paid special thanks to Wellspring's former fundraising manager Richard Thomas, who not only oversaw these fundraising efforts but also put in the work to apply for grants like the one they just received.

Since opening ten years ago, more than 300,000 people have used the Wellspring building - situated behind Watford Museum - to learn English, join a children’s holiday club, use the food bank, gather for Sunday services and more.

Reverend Roberts added: "Wellspring's aim is to improve facilities for the youth, mental health provision and space for people to celebrate the Christian faith together, as we grow as a church family with wide open doors to everyone."
